What PhotoDrone’s share is used for

General PhotoDrone operations and overhead like customer acquisition, quoting, dispatch, the quality control, editing, invoicing and collection, payment processing, support when a customer is unhappy, and the losses when a job goes wrong. We think that's a fair split, and you can judge for yourself now that you know what it covers.

What you need

  • A current FAA Part 107 certificate

Not optional, every PhotoDrone job is commercial work. We verify the number against the registry.

  • $1M liability insurance naming drone operations

General business coverage isn't enough. Most carriers add UAS wording for a modest premium.

  • Your own aircraft, 20MP stills and 4K video minimum

A Mavic 3 or Air 3 class aircraft clears this comfortably. Thermal, LiDAR, and RTK unlock extra work.

  • A base in or near South Florida

You set your own radius. Wider means more offers and longer drives. We accept applicants from other areas but job availability isn't guaranteed (yet).

  • Answer most offers within 30 minutes

Customers are waiting on a confirmation. Offers go to several pilots at once, and are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, so acceptance speed decides who gets the work.

What we expect

  • Show up when you said you would, or tell us early if you can't
  • Shoot the checklist, including the shots that are less interesting
  • Respect job-site restrictions we pass on, even inconvenient ones
  • Report problems when they arise rather than working around them quietly
  • Upload within 24 hours of the shoot

What we’re not offering

  • Not employment. You're an independent operator with your own business and insurance contracted by PhotoDrone to perform work for our clients.
  • No guaranteed volume. Offers depend on demand in your area, your personal acceptance rate, and the services you can reliably deliver.
  • No equipment provided, no reimbursement for gear or damage caused by operator negligence, or payment for travel outside of the job price
  • No client relationship. You don't contact customers directly, and they don't contact you. We manage the relationship so you can focus on the job.
