The whole policy in four lines

  • On approval you get a full commercial license for the delivered files, with no expiry.
  • Listings, marketing, reports, social and print are all covered, including for your clients.
  • Reselling the files as stock is the one thing the license doesn't cover.

4.1Ownership

Copyright in delivered imagery vests in PhotoDrone on capture and isn't transferred by this policy. The customer receives the license described below, which is broad enough for all ordinary commercial use of the imagery. Assignment of copyright is available by separate written agreement and is priced separately.

4.2License granted on approval

On approval of delivered files and payment of the balance, PhotoDrone grants the customer a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, adapt, display and distribute the delivered files for any commercial or internal purpose, including onward supply to the customer's own client for that client's use of the same job site. The license survives termination of the account and can't be revoked for any reason other than non-payment.

4.3Excluded uses

The license doesn't permit resale or sub-licensing of the files as stock imagery, or supply to an image library, or any use that presents the imagery as the customer's own original photographic work for licensing purposes. Attribution isn't required for ordinary commercial use.

4.4PhotoDrone's portfolio use

PhotoDrone reserves the right to display delivered imagery in its own marketing, portfolio and operator training material. The customer may exclude a job from portfolio use at any time, before or after delivery, without giving a reason, by request through the job or to support@photodrone.com. Exclusion applies within five (5) business days and PhotoDrone won't ask the customer to reconsider.

4.5Operator rights

Operators assign copyright in commissioned imagery to PhotoDrone as a condition of assignment and hold a limited right to show their own captured work in a personal portfolio. That right is suspended for any job the customer has excluded from portfolio use.
